Wix Favicon Generator
Wix ties the custom favicon to a paid plan with a connected domain — a site still on a wix.com subdomain shows Wix's own icon no matter what you upload. There is no file system and no head to edit.
The plan and the domain come first
On Wix the favicon is an account-level capability before it is a design decision. The documented requirement is a paid plan with a connected custom domain; until both are true, the tab shows Wix's icon and no amount of uploading changes it.
Once that is in place, the upload itself is a single square image in the site's settings. Wix generates and serves what it needs from that file — you do not get separate slots for individual sizes, and you do not get a directory to put files in.

Confirm the plan and the connected domain
A paid plan and a domain pointed at the site. If the address bar still shows a wix.com subdomain, stop here — the rest will not take effect.

Open the site settings and find the favicon field
It sits with the other site-wide branding settings rather than in the page editor. The wording has changed across versions of the dashboard, so search the settings for 'favicon' rather than following a fixed menu path.

Upload a square image
Several hundred pixels on a side, square, with a simple mark. Wix scales the one file down to what it serves, so anything fussy disappears at tab size.

Publish the site
Saving in the editor is not enough — the change reaches visitors only when the site is published. Then load the custom domain in a private window, since the browser caches the previous icon separately from the page.

Wix favicon FAQ
I uploaded a favicon and the tab still shows the Wix logo.
In order: is the site on a paid plan, is a custom domain connected, and has the site been published since the upload? Those three account for nearly every case. Only after all three check out is it worth suspecting the browser cache.
Can I add an apple-touch-icon or a manifest?
Not through the editor. Wix owns the head markup and exposes one icon upload, so plan for that single file to be the whole story rather than expecting to fill in the gaps by hand.
What image should I upload?
A square image several hundred pixels on a side, in a common web format. Since one file is scaled to every size the platform serves, judge it at 16px before uploading — that is the size that decides whether it reads.
